March 21 Get a life and Keep Moving.I'm sure many Chinese in Sydney, would have come to realise that yesterday was the day that Eason Chan's had his concert at Sydney Entertainment Centre. What more do I need to say? His concerts always give you surprises, and usually his voice seems to charm your heart out. (Especially the song What A Wonderful World...in an english accent..haha. and also 'i'm not lovable' which seems even better than his CD version) Before I say how fantastic the concert was i have to tell you the 'bad' things. First - he really talked to much, (not that I didnt enjoy it, but really, if he sang past 11 to make it up, i'd feel a lot better) Secondly - the sound system was BAD, sorry SYDNEY ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE but you really need to change your sound system man. THIRDLY - too many mando songs. (That's not my opinion, but i guess for the majority THAT was a problem) OK! The songs he chose were great, many oldies and also the good dance stuff too. In the end the only thing I didnt like was the fact that some clothing apparel weren't really my cup of tea (Personally liked GET A LIFE better..). Loved the snow flakes, and the audiences - havent seen so many standing up ...really having a jig and a wiggle...hahaha. I can't believe bro kinda lost his voice to Eason...haha. We all had a great time, and hope we'll get to see him again!! I loved Eason's english accent...hahah so 'eccentric'...HAHA Yet his imitations of the Australian accent really wasn't very good, yet I just loved how he spent about 5 mins talking in English......which I guess most Asians stars which perform here would not do. If you didnt go, I have to say YOU MISSED OUT ON A HELLA GOOD SHOW!!! gotta also thank my bro ...for da BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS!! which he took from a $68 seat...hahaha ![]() ![]() February 28 Fancy a kill?Sometimes i try not to judge anything by its cover, but its really hard when you have a guy wearing gothic crossed with metalic rock clothing matched with think white facial powder and exaggerating black eye liner on...and expect the film to be good. (Also might like to add...that johnny without a beard sure is less attractive..hahah yes...my beard obsession kicks in)
Having Depp;s "The Libertine" on my head ever since i saw it, i was hoping for some lovely rhyme and poetic language, and wasnt I wrong! To begin with i personally LOVE songs embedded in movies, didnt know the songs were THAT catchy. Again its a Tim Burton film, like WongKaWai and Tony Leung, once they are together they make dreams and miricles come true, much like "Sleepy Hollow" Burton attempts to bathe Depp in as much blood he can get his hands on, which is what i rather like about the film, the beautiful contrast between the red and the black - one of the few techniques which hollywood directors still embrace, while in Asia its happening more and more....funny that.
If the art of death was considered art. Then why is the art of killing not so highly acclaimed? I guess thats what Burton wanted you to come out of the cinema thinking, either you want to keep your neck attached to your body or like me - wanting to just go slashing at random people as I walk down George St with strangers passing my side (I warn against watching the movie yourself like I did. haha. My imagination went WILD after watching it...having company will deffinatley prevent THAT from happening). When your Asian and you watch this...you might draw connections between Anthony Wong and his Chinese Buns, and also the passionate Heathcliff, which makes you wonder if Burton should try Wuthering Heights (since he has good sense with Gothic atmospheres..) and Depp as the ultimate Heathcliff - now wouldn't that encapsulate the crowd??
Beside Depp, the whole cast seem to be from Harry Potter....although I thought that Anthony was from The Libertine at first. With humour, action, blood and songs I really don't understand why Depp failed to get his hand on the oscars. For me the film satisfied my ID, the primitive side of man, the underlying desire of hunting and killing which were part of the norm of our long gone ancestors, while also keeping that very 'desire' suppresssed and controlled - if not I have a feeling i would've ended up as the next serial killer.
So sit back and be stunned by such a film and be awed and shocked by the blood spilling performance (actually i would have prefered it better if victims actually suffocated on the blood which flowed back into the windpipe...now wouldnt that be even more chair gripping???) |
